Joan Hoey
Economist Intelligence Unit
Joan is the Director of The Economist Intelligence Unit's flagship annual Democracy Index. She was European Regional Director for the Economist Intelligence Unit for 6 years heading a team of analysts and personally responsible for providing political and economic forecasts for a number of countries in the region, including the UK and Greece.
She joined the EIU in 1995 having worked as a freelance journalist covering the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe. She has a first-class BA in History from Sussex University. She has a special focus on Democracy, Economy, and geopolitics.
